As a child of the funk, soul, disco, hiphop, new wave and new beat era Franky Jones (real name Frank Sels) lives and breathes electronic music. No wonder he was one of the Pioneers in the Belgian Electronic Dance Music Scene. A DJ for 27 years now, he is still at the forefront of Belgian Nightlife and far beyond as a regular guest at some of the biggest national & international raves, clubs & party’s.
He has a record like no one else : Love Parade (8x), Mayday (2x), Nature One, MysteryLand (6x), Techno 94, Dance Valley, I Love Techno (6x), Houseqlassics (5x), Impulz, Megarave (6x), In Qontrol (2x), Rave The City (2x), Defqon 1 (2x), City Parade (3x), Q-Base (2x), Inner City (3x), Techno Parade, Thunderdome (5x), Frequence, Decibel, Ground Zero, Rave City, Multigroove (8x), Street Parade, Immortality, Impulz, House Torhout ……and the list goes on and on!
Taking him around the world, from Paris to Sydney, from Chicago to Tokyo, from Amsterdam to Ibiza, from New York to Detroit, from Berlin to Zagreb. He has been there, done that and doing it again. In 1996/1997 he released as the first Belgium DJ his awesome full album “Welcome Into My World” on Bonzai Records and went on a European Tour to promote it.
Franky is also the founder of the Tripomatic, Buddja & Enterprise labels. Again he was the first in his country to start a GOA Trance label with Buddja and had some big fans like Paul Oakenfold and Mark Spoon (RIP) from Jam & Spoon.
With his own party concepts as a promoter with his company Enterprise Productions or as a resident or guest DJ, Franky has played and organized events at all Legendary Belgian venues including Carat, Extreme, Montini, La Rocca, CherryMoon, Lagoa, La Bush, Fuse and more.
On the production level he scored one of the biggest selling dance singles ever made. Jones and Stephenson’s (with David Brants) “The First Rebirth” was first released in 1993 on Bonzai Records and has been remixed and/or re-released every year since that initial release. In 2006, 13 years after its conception, the track was re-released with several new remixes all the top jocks playing it like crazy! But it is still the original which has the most impact as a track that defines an era and is an anthem for all lovers of deep, progressive and hard trance. Franky has produced many other tracks under various guises including, Moon Project with M.I.K.E. & Guy Naets, Dr. Jones, Cyberdelia with Roel Butzen, Carat Club Trax with Dimitri Dewever, Trippex with Peter Schietekatte and many more. He has an impressive back catalogue with Bonzai including the “Trance-O-Logic EP” and “Non Stop EP”.
As a DJ, Franky Jones stands and delivers high quality and legendary sets. Did you know that he has the unbelievable collection of more than 300.000 vinyl’s!
He was voted Best International DJ 1995 by the readers of Eternity magazine in N. Ireland.
Voted Best Belgium DJ 1997 & 1998 by the readers of Move-X magazine and was not allowed to enter again in 1999 because the readers voted only for this incredible artist. Later that year the magazine published an article about the first living DJ Legend in our small country. In 2009 he received a small award on the Defqon 1 Festival in Holland for best Artist. He has even a new nickname, people shouting everywhere “The Master of Oldschool, the King of Classics”.
